Jerry S. Rawls
SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION

The Jerry S. Rawls Scholarship Foundation was established in 2001, by Jerry S. Rawls, Texas Tech 1967. The $5.4 million endowment is exclusively used to provide cash grant scholarships to active members and initiated pledges of the Lambda Tau chapter and other Texas Tech students at the discretion of the trustees of the foundation. Scholarship grants were first issued for grades made during the Spring semester of 2001, and through Spring 2005 over $1 million has
been awarded. Beginning in 2004 the foundation has also provided scholarship grants to members of each Texas Tech sorority. The presentation of these grants is made at the Joe Ray Goodin Scholarship Banquet held each semester by the chapter. The amount of these scholarships is graduated according to grade levels. Those with 4.0 GPA's receive the largest amount, with 3.75's, 3.50's, 3.25's, and 3.0's receiving lesser amounts. The scholarships are earned not only with excellent grades, but also by the recipient meeting certain requirements concerning chapter meeting
attendance, taking a minimum amount of residential hours at Texas Tech, performing required social service activities, and otherwise staying in good standing with fraternity and the University.
